There was more discussion about the power button being ugly, the overall look, and ART being budget geat than discussion of the actual quality and sound of the unit. I have no idea why nobody seems to ever talk about it. The Art PowerMIX III provides a headphone output with its tsis soccer own level control. The ART USBMix4 is a great starting point for building a personal home studio. Perfect for podcasters, songwriters or at home movie makers looking for a simple solution for recording voiceovers, location recording or adding music to your projects using any Mac or PC.
I used a bass guitar part for a session I have in-progress. I happened to be the one who played the part, so that felt the most honest for posting on the internet. The part in question was recorded using an active Jazz bass with fresh roundwound strings through the DI (pre-EQ) on a Trickfish Bullhead 1K bass amp sent into a Line Audio 8MP and then into a MOTU 16A for conversion to digital.
It’s clean with just enough softening of the highs and embellishment of the lows to sound better than the stock preamps in audio interfaces. There is the transformer sense of smoothness, tightness, and transient snap that I like transformers for. On top of that you’ll find a huge variety of other professional recording hardware too. Sample rate generators, transformer isolators, mini mixers, high performance mic splitters, passive direct boxes, channel level converts, auto-tune and so much more are all represented in their lineup. Then definitely take a look at the SLA1 Studio Power Amplifier.
The Recording Industry Association of America set pay rules in the mid-1950s. Since then, every hi-fi and stereo amplifier with phono or turntable inputs has included an RIAA preamp. A separate RIAA preamp is required when connecting a turntable to a mixer that does not have an integrated RIAA preamp. Of course first step you must make is to change tubes in preamp.
This dynamic piece of equipment features a 10Hz – 40kHz frequency response, 100W per channel at 8 ohms and a silent, thermal-dependent cooling system with SmartFan technology. It provides everything you need to monitor your studio recordings. By way of technical specification, the mic amps have a respectable EIN of -127dBu C-weighted, and both the Main/Mon and Aux outputs can send levels of up to +20dBu balanced (or +17dBu unbalanced). Up to 73dB of mic gain is available and the overall frequency response is an impressive 20Hz to 100kHz within 1dB. Next to the input gain control is the one that governs input impedance, which ranges from 150Ω to 2.4kΩ.
I think its one of their most attractive pieces with the Jensen Xformer INput and Output Transformer, and Variable Impedance. 150 to 1K, ..the HPF variable..then when its a Dual Channel ….for that price its great. I’m very very happy for buying this and I can easily see why Enlightened Hand got a 2nd. If I had a 2nd I might try to run portable on anything that’s outdoors and on location.
A clean, well laid out circuit board and two 12AX7 preamp tubes. The tubes are a basic Chinese 12AX7 and are a good place to start when looking at modifying this mic pre. For the purposes of this review I will be using the stock tubes.
